This Privacy Policy describes how Meal Break (operated by Enzo Gazzolo) collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our nutrition tracking app.

We collect information you provide directly:
We also collect automatically:
Premium users can photograph meals for automatic food identification. Photos are sent to Google Gemini and OpenAI for analysis. Photos may be processed through Google's Gemini API under its free (unpaid) tier; under Google's terms for that tier, Google may use the submitted content (the meal photo and the resulting analysis) to improve its products and machine-learning technologies, and human reviewers may read it after Google disconnects it from our account and API key. We send only the photo and the analysis request, never your name, email address, or account details. Please avoid including people's faces or other personal information in meal photos. If you prefer, you can log meals by barcode scan or manual entry instead. You retain ownership of your photos and can delete them at any time through the app. We do not use your photos for marketing without your explicit consent.
If you allow it, Meal Break reads your daily step count from your phone — from Apple's motion data on iPhone, and from Health Connect on Android — to show today's steps and an estimate of the calories burned walking. We read only step counts (no other health records) and never write anything to Health Connect. We store only your daily step total, with your account, on our servers (Supabase). Step data is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with any other third party. You can turn this access off at any time in your phone's settings (iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness; Android: Health Connect › App permissions).
If you register using Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from those providers. We use this information only to create and manage your Meal Break account.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all your personal data including meal logs, photos, and profile information is permanently deleted within 30 days. To delete your account: open the app → Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
Our servers are located in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States. For EEA and UK users, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.
Meal Break is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, withdraw consent, or request data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@mealbreak.fit.
California residents may also have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to opt out of the sale of personal data (we do not sell personal data) and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.
We do not currently respond to Do-Not-Track browser signals as no uniform technology standard has been finalized.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no electronic transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email and update the date at the top of this page.
